In a move designed to enhance safety for Camana Bay tenants and visitors, the Dart property management team has announced the introduction of body-worn cameras by its security officers operating within the Town Centre.

Marvin Cox, Dart’s vice president of property management, indicated the new security measure has the support of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS).

“The introduction of body-worn cameras by our security officers is a proactive step toward reducing the likelihood of altercations and ensuring that, should any incidents occur, they are accurately documented. These devices can help with de-escalating potentially volatile situations, while also providing clear, objective evidence when needed,” said Cox.

“This reflects our commitment to creating a safe and respectful environment for everyone that visits Camana Bay, even if it is just five minutes for a casual stroll or attending one of the many community events which we host here,” he said.

The RCIPS also expressed its support for the new measure. “We commend the Camana Bay team for implementing body-worn cameras on their security team,” said Robert Atkin, assistant commissioner of RCIPS.

“This collaboration [between RCIPS and Dart] has continuously resulted in positive outcomes. Undoubtedly, body-worn cameras have been proven to enhance public trust, and provide valuable documentation that supports law enforcement and community safety. I am sure this introduction will allow the Camana Bay team to further enhance their security capability.”

The body-worn cameras will used by on-duty Camana Bay security officers and will be visibly placed on the officer wearing them. The cameras will be used only in public spaces within the Town Centre and will capture both audio and video only when activated.
