Camana Bay's sustainable community, founded on the principles of new urbanism, is garnering attention throughout the region.
Camana Bay has been shortlisted for the 2025 Urban Land Institute Southeast Florida/Caribbean Vision Awards, a recognition that highlights its role as a model for sustainable, community-focused development.
The flagship Dart project is one of six developments across the region in the running for Project of the Year, an award that celebrates excellence in design, planning and impact. Winners will be announced 20 Nov.
“From the outset, Camana Bay was envisioned as more than a development; it was designed to be a dynamic community that brings people together in one holistic environment of living, working and enjoying free time,” said Gary Gibbs, Dart’s executive vice president of development. “Being recognised by ULI affirms the value of our long-term vision and approach to placemaking rooted in local culture and sense of place.”
Camana Bay combines residential, commercial, educational and recreational spaces in a walkable town setting. The community’s emphasis on walkability, Caribbean identity and long-term sustainability has been central to its design.
According to the ULI awards programme, Camana Bay “exemplifies long-term vision and placemaking rooted in regional identity” and serves as “a thriving hub for commerce, culture and everyday life.”
