From basketball and football to swimming and pickleball, Camana Bay has become a hub for sports in the Cayman Islands.
The Camana Bay Sports Complex currently features two tennis courts — each of which features markings for two pickleball courts as well — four pickleball courts on Festival Green, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, an eight-lane, 25-meter swimming pool and a professional-grade football field. The Arts & Recreation Centre (ARC) also provides flexible space for activities ranging from volleyball to community fitness programmes.
“Our goal at Camana Bay is to provide facilities that serve the entire community, from young athletes just starting out to seasoned competitors,” said Dart Senior Property Manager Jeff Wight. “Whether it’s a child learning to swim, a Special Olympics athlete training for competition or families walking the nature trail together, these spaces are designed to promote active, healthy lifestyles and a sense of belonging.”
Facilities are open seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with closures during school hours.
For those who prefer recreation off the court, Camana Bay also offers a nature loop footpath. The walking trail begins at Festival Green and features three loops of varying lengths, with the longest measuring 0.92 miles.
The complex has become a vital training ground for local athletes and youth programmes.
Cayman’s basketball community uses both the ARC and outdoor courts, while the Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association hosts its national meets in the Camana Bay pool. The Special Olympics Cayman Islands also uses the facilities for basketball and swimming. Football clubs, including 345 FC and Sunset, regularly train on the pitch. Construction of a second pitch is underway across Esterley Tibbetts Highway due to increased demand for playing space.
By offering modern, accessible facilities, Camana Bay is supporting both recreational play and competitive sport, helping young athletes grow while fostering community connections through shared activity.
